5i25 in PCI-E Adapter Card?

Hi, I'm gathering up some spare parts for a revised LinuxCNC computer build, based on a Celeron G540 and the Asrock H71M-DG3 motherboard (Intel H61 chipset) which I have lying around from a cheap used purchase. The main issue at the moment is that my 5i25 IO card is a PCI card, and this motherboard only has a PCI-E slot. Will an adapter card work (link below)? It appears that it will physically fit in my case, using the low profile adapter, but I don't know if it will work with LinuxCNC and the 5i25.

Should I scrap the mobo and go for something with a native PCI slot? Or buy a 6i25 which is natively PCI-E instead?

Its very likely to work, but not sure about the mechanics...

Both good points. I don't think I'll have a specific use for the 5i25 in the future, so maybe I'll try the adapter first and see if that works.

I'm curious to know how the adapter worked out for you?

I have one of these to use my 5i25 from an old P4 on a mini ITX board.

It works perfectly, I just had to make a new bracket to mount it plus the 5i25, so that the D25 socket could be accessed properly.

If you can wait 3 weeks for delivery, buy one from ebay direct from China.
They are 1/10th the price for the same item as some domestic stockists, who bought them at that price or less themselves
