in my hal is no motmod but a emcmod. Is this the same?

Yes, but if you have emcmot you have a _very_ old version (6 years old ?)
of LinuxCNC and should probably update it

I use 2.7.8 with Wheezy, my hal is created with pncconf.

Ahh pncconf uses EMCMOT as a INI file token
just add the num_dio=16 token to the end of the

loadrt [EMCMOT]EMCMOT blah blah blah

I just found this post . I am trying to get the M64 and M65 P counts above 4 to trigger my PnP feeders. That did it
