Its the best info I found but you can't alter the outputs to inputs.

Mine came off eBay from Longs Motor as a kit with 4 x DM542A stepper drives. Here's a listing

But look around first as I think there are multiple suppliers.

this one is not working as input... i am looking for one that is working for input. I mean configure the parport as input and not as output

30 dollars...hhhmmmm
It is not so cheap...

I think i am going to connect them directly without bob. Is there any problem ? They are only switces with external pull ups. No relays or motors

There are straight through unprotected screw terminal breakouts fairly cheaply, that you can wire however you like.

It wouldn't particularly worry me to do that.

You could make an opto-isolation board very easily if you wanted, too. Just use some strip-board.
