I am fitting a miniitx board inside my control box. I have had it running using a PP cable from the 5i25 to the 7i76 25 pin connector.

Can I use a ribbon cable about 600-700 mm long using the ide connectors if so what would I need to change. or is this not correct.

You can do this, if you want to retain the same HAL file you would want to use the 5i25_7i76x2r FPGA configuration
which swaps the 5I25 P2,P3 connector wiring.

Note that flat cables are more susceptible to noise so longer flat cables should be routed away from noise sources

Thanks for the quick reply Peter. Would you know if a pp cable can be got or made with a 90' elbow on the 7i76 end about 700 mm

Making IEEE1284 cables is not easy, The flat cable should be fine as long as its all inside
one box and routed away form power wires

Peter is there likely to be a problem using a db25 m/f right angle adaptor on the 7i76

As long as it has all 25 wires it should be fine
