Usually this means total loss of communication between the 7I92 and 7I77

Most common causes are

1. 5V power issue on 7I77 (low 5V or total loss of 5V)
2. Watchdog bite due to real time issues

Hello Peter

I added a 5v power supply to exclude the possibility of a power issue to the 7i77, what do I need to check for real time issues. I have checked this system for latency issues in the past and never saw any alarming values from the test. What would I need to check while the system is running. I do have have a USB to RS485 running on a different thread speed. Let me know. Thanks.

Do you still have an issue with the external 5V power?

Also if you run LinuxcCNC from a terminal you can get the entire error log
which may catch a watchdog bite message

Yes. Still present present with an external 5v supply. I seem to be getting error (4) and (14)

OK well 4 and 14 are different than what you got before (which looked more like a power supply issue)

Can you start linuxcnc in a terminal and capture the actual errors?

How long (and what type) is the cable from the 7I92 to the 7I77?

Did you make sure the 7I77 and 7I92 are jumpered for external power (7I77 W5 right 7I92 W3,W4 down)

Also what LinuxCNC version are you running?

The cable was purchased from you. The length I wanna say is 3ft (1m). I can get you the exact errors on Monday. I want to say the jumpers are what you stated because I was using USB power from the PC as an external source. As far as LinuxCNC version I am using the most updated version of Machinekit.

I would try LinuxCNC 2.7.8 (or master), Machinkit is not as up-to-date as
LinuxCNC WRT Hostmot2/sserial driver bug fixes

Just a stab in the dark, but are you sure you have the 7i77 connected to the right port on the 7i92 ?
It sure looks like it is not.
Also did you flash the 7i92 with the firware for 7i77?
What do you get if you type "sudo mesaflash --device 7i92 your_7i92_ip_address_here --readhmid ?
