UBUNTU 8.04 was created by OLD BOB
I have a computer I want to install only UBUNTU 8.04 as the only O/S.
Can I use the live -CD to do that or is there a better way?

The LiveCD is the best way as you get EMC installed all at once. Just remember to connect to the internet and get the updates to EMC and do not update the OS if asked.

I have doenloaded and burned the live CD twice and still have the same results.
I am using an INTEL ATOM mini ITX mother board. I have a USB CD/DVD ROM DRIVE BURNER. The case does not have room fo a optical drive.

So I run the live cd and install the program through windows.

I guess to day I will try a different older computer.

Not sure what problem you are having loading EMC/UBUNTU, but I recently helped a friend load them with the live CD on a ATOM board and had to go into the BIOS and turn off the LAN before they would load.

I read some where that the ATOM has a bug and will not run UBUNTU 8.04 right.
I gave up on the ATOM computer and went with an old CELRON1.2 Ghz which seems to be working OK
But now I am trying to get email and the printer working.
