I have had a copy of EMC2 for around 4 years which boots upon PC's with no hard drive installed. I tried the same disc on a Dell Laptop and found it hangs at line 510 SQUASHFS Ver 3. Downloading a new copy of EMC 2.2. and following the instructions to download and burn to CD I get a copy that will not boot. Is there a difference in the later versions?

My experiences may or may not help your situation but I found it extremely difficult to get a good cd burned that would boot. I checked my downloaded file with checksum and it matched but the trouble was with the burning process.
What worked for me was to download INFRARECORDER and also to use it a certain way.

1. Download and install Infra Recorder, a free and open source image burning program.
2. Insert a blank CD in the drive and select Do nothing or Cancel if an auto-run dialog pops up.
3. Open Infra Recorder, and select the 'Actions' menu, then 'Burn image'.

Follow these steps and should have a good bootable CD.
