Can we make EMC work more like Centroid?

I just downloaded the Centroid CNC demo emulator (available here: www.ajaxcnc.com/downloads/266demo.exe). The graphics leave a lot to be desired, but I like the mouseless interface using the function keys. I also like that the Centroid is a dedicated controller, running only one program in full screen.

Would it be possible to make EMC2 operate like this? It would really help when trying to use EMC2 in an industrial setting. My understanding is that Centroid was originally based on the EMC.

I would change the softkey flow slightly, change the DRO layout, and add some helpful graphics instead of the text descriptions and a few other things.

I think that all of the functionality of EMC could be retained by letting advanced users map custom softkeys for functions like is currently available with PyVCP widgets.

I have only a rudimentary knowledge of programming, but this seems possible.
