which encoder type shoud i use? was created by molle_tauch_66
HALLO GUYS
I HAVE A 5I25 7I76 CONFIGURATION FOR MY LATHE CONVERSION.
I SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED LINUXCNC 2.7.8.
I MANAGED TO GET OPERATE THE SPINDLE WITH THE VFD.
NOW I NEED A SPINDLE ENCODER FOR THE LATHE.
IT SHOULD BE CHEAP,READY TO USE AND SHOULD BE MOUNTED ON THE REAR SIDE OF THE HEADSTOCK
HOLLOW SHAFT ENCODERS WOULD BE USEFUL
THE OUTER DIAMETER OF MY SHAFT IS 48.5MM.
CAN ANYONE OF YOU RECOMMEND A ENCODER WHICH OPERATES WELL WITH THESES CARDS PROPERLY.
OR IS A MANUAL TO BUILD ONE BY MYSELF. (FROM THE SCRATCH)
IS THERE A LINK IN THE FORUM FOR BUILDING AN ENCODER.
PLEASE POINT MY IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH TECNO FOR YOUR QUITE REPLY!
YOU HAVE A VERY NICE ENCODER BUILD.
I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT LINUXCNC?
DOES LINUXCNC USES A+ A+ B+B- INDEX+ INDEX- ENCODER SIGNALS THAT MEANS
I HAVE TO BUY THREE FORKS, OR TWO SIGNALS A+ A- INDEX+ INDEX- THAT MEANS
TWO OF THEM ARE ENOUGH!
WHICH KIND OF SLOTTED OPTICAL SWITCHES DID YOU USE?
I FOUND WITH THE HELP OF GOOGLEA C3INDEX PULSE CARD!
WHAT DU YOU THINK ABOUT IT
DO THEY OPERATE WITH LINUX CNC.THE PRICE FOR ONE IS 26EURO.
DID YOU USE OTHER ELECTONICS FOR THE ENCODER LIKE PULL UP RESITORS.
I APPRICIATE YOUR HELP!

Yes.
The absolute minimum is a single unipolar Z channel. (Z+ or Z-)
For better tracking on lathe threading you would need to add an A channel.
For rigid tapping on lathe or mill you need a B channel too, to detect direction.
Bipolar signals are more noise resistant.
So, anything between just Z+ and the full A+ A- B+ B- Z+ Z- can work.

WILL REPORT LATER WHEN ITIS BUILD.
THANKS
