I have been trying to get homing sequence working in Linuxcnc2.8 and have done this by following this topic.

www.forum.linuxcnc.org/38-general-linuxc...-gantry-homing#94128

I can home but after homing i cant jog Z axis.

Was thinking of adding an A axis in the near future.

Where could this be changed in Axis? Swedish keyboard layout

Best guess is that you have your soft limits, and or home position configured incorrectly for your Z.

I'm not sure I understand your 2nd question. (Not being Swedish or knowing the keyboard differences.)

Sometimes when setting up a machine the linuxcnc.var file in your config folder gets corrupted. Delete it and see if that fixes it.

Im off to work now will look into it when i get home.

Even before homing i cant jog with Z axis it seems that Y2 has taken over where Z axis should be makes that sense.

IN Axis when choosing joint3 in gantry config simulation i cant jog there either not with keyboard or mouse

Greetings,

Your *.ini file shows Z axis as Joint 3.

I believe it should be Joint 2.

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks for your reply.

I have changed my ini file and now i am getting a joint error when trying to home.

joint 2 following error
emc/task/taskintf.cc 944: Error on joint 2, command number 94

Its some setting in my ini file that is not correct i think have to keep trying just a little bit more.

One or two errors disappeared when starting in terminal so must be on the right way.
But i will keep reading and learning.

Is it wrong to setup a gantry machine like i did XYYZ ? with individual homing?

/Rickard

Excerpt from your ini file:
[AXIS_Z]
MAX_VELOCITY = -25.0
MAX_ACCELERATION = -750.0

All [AXIS_L]MAX_VELOCITY, MAX_ACCELERATION items must be
non-negative

Well it seems that my configuration of my machine was wrong so i made a new one.

I made a X Y Z A configuration and changed the A axis to be part of my Y as Y2.

And all is working now. Just thought you could configure a machine like i did but it did not work like that

My fault

It is possible, but more difficult do. There is a lot more manual editing of the configuration files. If you are not very familiar with how to edit and manipulate Linuxcnc's configuration files it is very easy to get tripped up.

The reason for the difference in difficulty of setting XYYZ vs XYZY, is because you have to reconfigure the default nature of joint 2 from being the Z axis.
