Linuxcnc stops working after transfering hard drive from one computer

Ok So very weird problem I have a linuxcnc image on 64 bit linux mint 18.1 with rtai 4.11-amd64 it all works when use the image on my dev computer a dell precision T3500 no problems boots runs excellent latency has been configured for my machine the works. When use clonezilla to copy the partition to a different drive and boot up in the t3500 everything also still works as expected. BUT when I transfer this same drive to the actual mill computer which is an optiplex 780 I can boot into the kernel fine linux mint comes up fine but the latency test returns zeros and axis will not boot up dmesg doesn't appear to have any smoking guns. Is there thing I am doing wrong? I know the I am changing cpu architecture but I have moved from a T3400 with the same cpu in the mill computer(780) to the T3500 without problems but why would I be having problems going back?

Probably because the 780 is a Pentium D or Core 2 Duo, vs the i7 based Xeon in the T3500. I'm very surprised that the 780 would even boot the amd64 image at all.

I would agree with you but I first started this in the T3400 which had the exact same processor and video card as the 780 and I do mean exact same as I moved them over to the 780(Q6600 and radeon 4650). The drive worked fine there and then the T3500 showed up and so I replaced the T3400 with the T3500 because I only have so much room and the drive still worked fine. It wasn't until I moved back that I stumbled upon this problem. So did mint reconfigure itself to work with the T3500 and that is just a one way road?

The only reason I am trying this is when I tried to follow cncnoobs how to install linuxcnc post 3 and 4 I could not get it to work anymore. it would compile and install but not run at all. Not even a semblance of working and no error messages either it was like I never pressed the buttons to launch the program. moving from 2.8 to 2.7.11 made no difference either.

??? I'm having a similar problem on an old machine that happily runs Linuxcnc on the old Lucid iso, but I can't get Linuxcnc to work with the Wheezy ones. I can get the Wheezy iso to run fine on a nearly identical computer, the only difference is the one that doesn't work has some ISA slots (that I need for an interface card). The ISA machine boots, but no real-time...

Weird.....
uname -r responds with the correct expected kernel in the drive that works with the T3500 the latency test pops up as all zeroes and the axis window fails to load and displays a configuration error while the exact same config works in the T3500 without any problems

and attempting a new install (18 or 18.1 or 18.2) everything works right up until I attempt to run either the latency test or the axis window in which absolutely nothing happens, no error code, no attempt to load, It's like the button is not there at all.

Can you post your dmesg log from the machine with the problems?

Isn't this the problem you get when the PC has no LAPIC?

LAPIC doesn't seem to be a part of the dell BIOS options would they have called it something different?

I'll be getting a chance to swap the non functional drive back in later today to provide the dmesg output had to make some parts first with the old 32 bit configuration this weekend.
