Unbelievable, you just deleted my message because it didn't have a subject.

That might have been the forum, it's very odd and occasionally downright flaky. It sometimes just logs you out so you lose a post too.
It's generally a good plan to copy your message to the clipbpoard before pressing the "submit" button.

I think the moderators would have added a subject, if they though it was a problem.

No one would have deleted the message just because it didn't have a subject... either you timed out or the forum just didn't post it without a subject.

After some exhaustive testing the forum software automagiclly does not post a message without a subject

well, I didn't think it was deleted by a real person.
However I would expect half smart software to ask you for a subject rather than just just saying 'your message had no subject, try again.
This is the first piece of software that has done this to me.
Maybe because I've spent the last 20 years not playing with Linux.

It's not a Linux thing, nor is it an EMC2 thing.
I have no idea what platform the forums run on, nor why we use this particular forum software but it would be a lot of work to migrate to something else.

At least it no longer hides messages containing non-ascii characters. That was very annoying.

Anyway, what was your original question? Lets talk about CNC and EMC2, not forum software we have little control over.
