Jog speed is very slow

I have set up my mill with Pncconf with a 7i76 the mill responds correctly with the (test the axis screen) but when in axis the jog speed is very slow 60mm/min. I have tried changing max_vel in the ini file to 4000 but the jog rate is still the same.

What am I missing I have changed my setup from a pp to a mesa 5i25 and have not used PnCConf before as I used stepconfig.

where do I change the parameters to correct this. Also I take it that I can delete all the pid tuning stuff out of the ini.

config attached

in the {DISPLAY] section of the INI try editing to something higher.
MAX_LINEAR_VELOCITY = 1.000000
1 represents 60mm/m

PID settings are required. PNCconf sets up PID driven step generators...It gets better performance.
Also Peter recommends seting the PID P term to 1000 ( well actually P = 1 / (servo_thread) )

would 1500 mm/m for max jog velocity and
380 mm/m for default jog velocity

Be reasonable metric defaults?

well I pushed fixes to pncconf to set more reasonable defaults for metric and angular jogs.
will be included in 2.7.5

Thanks

Chris Thanks for the info. What is the relationship between MAX_LINEAR_VELOCITY (in display) and MAX_VELOCITY (in axis section) I did try altering the MAX_VELOCITY to 4000 but that made no difference.

I also notice that MAX_LINEAR_VELOCITY is also in the [TRAJ] section at 66.67 yet in the Display section it is 1.000 so which is the correct place to change the number. What am I not understanding

You mention PID does that mean I cannot take out all the PID stuff in the ini file?

Ok Chris that works thanks. The stepper make a ticking noise at the end of a movement and the dro moves very slowly after the motors appear to have stopped. ie it appears to be finding it exact position. Is this another PID setting So what is the parameter to change?

Settting all the P terms to 1000 in the INI file should fix this

Thanks Peter. Is there any reason for me not to use steconfig instead of pncconf as I am using steppers on a small mill.

stepconf does not support Mesa cards so it won't work for you.
