Pathpilot install was created by tkamsker
Hi i wnat to play around and see all the magic of the path pilot ui .
So i bought the restore cd and tried to install on an GA board which i bought for that playing around
it has SSD disk and external DVD drive
But it boots does play around show me the screen for installing then it works a long time and errors by image is missing
what can that be ? does it have to be an "internal" dvd drive ?

is there a way to install path pilot from an hard disk ? or usb stick ?
any hints are welcome thomas

the r-image expects a drive of 260gig for pathpilot , it can be re-imaged if thats the word to fit to others if you use the r-image software , i often use 80gig drives without problem . ssd's are a little different and also require a few changes to stop the drive
endlessly re-writing to the ssd which will be bad , theres many post on the internet on how to correctly set up an ssd for debian & ubuntu ( pathpilot uses ubuntu ) .

It will install just fine without a Mesa card. I installed it on an old PC and on a virtual machine under VMware.
It will complain of course when it tries to start PP but pressing the left ALT and SHIFT keys will let you into Debian to change the config.

Thomas.
i'm not sure if the GM driver is present in pathpilot , i'm not at a machine at the moment to check , but i can easily add it for you if needed , if you follow the tutorial help information at the top of this forum , it will show you how to bypass the mesa checks
either temporally or remove them completely , although their are a few files to modify .

email me directly if you require help .

after buing an non sad disk and internal dvd drive i got it installed ,..
cncbasher thank you very much m really
i decided to get me an mesa card and see the whole setup.

i spend yesterday some time on the configs and understand how they integrated all that to their machines , .
my plan is simply put that controller to one of our machines (and our machines are really verry comparable to the 1100 and lathe but made in austria/europe !!) so just minimal adjustments and it will run. But then i´ll do some parts with it (the tool changer parts for instances ) and then i can from dayli work compare if it is worth the effort. but really it is an nice ui
