Kirk,

I think what I'll do at this point is to replace the blown up cap and go from there and see what the output voltage is and if anything else is blown. I have quite a few things left to sort out while I work on the turret encoder.

Again thanks so much for your help.

I'm making progress finally YEA! Thanks to all the guys who are helping me out on this project.

Last night I got the axis drive connected and even homed the Z axis. I can see now that the homing section of the manual needs a bit more information.

I'm waiting on the belt for the X to arrive so I can change that out and start tuning the PID.

The default P settings in the HostMot2 sample should NOT be used LOL. P=100 is way too big.

I had some tips somewhere on tuning but can't access it right now :( due to a DOA mobo.

Thanks
John

Awesome! How much faster is the Rapid for x/z?

Cool. Nice to see some success. (BTW, what camera did you use? I'm looking for something that will take decent videos.)

tenaja,

Rob said I should get in the area of 10m/min with Z and 5m/min with X. The drives are not tuned up yet and I can get 240ipm with the Z, X is waiting on a belt to arrive from Hardinge. However now I get a fault on the main drive board for the axis and nothing moves. Well the spindle does go from 0-6000... Oh, in the video it was running at 40ipm as I had not even began to try and set the PID.

Kirk,

I borrowed a Flip and used my tripod so it would not wander all over the place lol. I have some parts on the way for the turret, I got two of each for a whopping $5.40 + $1.90 shipping so we will see how that turns out next week when it shows up.

NICE! great to see another Hardinge in motion.
Sounds like it'll be a bit faster than my HNC, i can only get 200ipm out of mine before it throws a fit.

Hi Dan,

I'm not there yet, It is all moving but I need to work on the PID tuning and figure out what I need to look at on Hal Scope.

I'm closer than I've ever been.

The X axis belt came in today so I got that up and running and homing so things are progressing nicely.
