I got the timeout only once, but it just hangs and opens after aprox. 5 to 15 seconds.
I checked the time, and it is usualy 0.1 to 0.120 seconds so the server is perfectly well, as was confirmed by the info provided by JT.
That leaves the bandwidth botleneck or ddos to the ISP that the server is on.

Or that Linuxcnc is so widely successful that the current server and bandwidth to it simply can't handle requests. Very frustrating to loose a post due to a timeout. Still seems to happen most days here.

Rod, now I am certain there is no issue with the server, as can be seen from the info that JT provided, the overall system load is very low so it can handle at least 10 times the load it gets now.
Bandwidth might be a problem in this case, or most probably ISP throttling or QOS set to prioritize other traffic .
I remember seeing something on the news that net neutrality in the US went out of the window some two weeks ago and that coincides with the issues we started having here. It was never neutral, but they were limited to throttling video streams and " non important" traffic, but now they can do as they please without any repercussions.
There is an app on google play and app store to check for that, but it checks only YouTube, amazon, Skype, vimeo and some other sites, not all, so not very helpful for us. The app is named "wehe" .

Its the kind of thing you would expect on a shared hosting service but John is showing the server stats which says he's got access to the server. I seem to remember someone saying it was hosted in someone's house.

Bear in mind the top data is just a snapshot in time.

A test from pingdom seemed OK right now.

I wish I could find it again but I used to use a very cool monitoring service that used a php script on your server that graphed CPU, memory SQL and LAN performance. It let me keep the host honest when I did not trust them. Most issues on a hosted environment come from contention with the SQL server. If it is maxed out by another site or application, this sort of thing can happen.

Phill,
That is strange and it definately points at the server. Strange since i get the same hangs but the time is always around 1 second, sometimes a bit above or below, but 80 something ?????
Keep posting the information as it helps narow it down.
Thank you, all.

Is everyone using Windows (10) for the surfing and related problem?
Anyone having this problem surfing from Linux?

I am asking because my googling on this topic indicate a problem with Windows CryptSvc service.
I have now set it to use the local system login instead of the network login.
So far so good, But I guess as soon as I post this, it will time-out again.
