ParPort Pins was created by joel0407
Hey guys,

Just wondering if there is anyway to see ParPort input pins in Axis?

I'm setting up my homing switches and just trouble shooting at the moment. I can put my meter across the breakout board and see I am getting ground switched when home is tripped but just not sure how to check that I have HAL setup right.

In Axis, Machine /Show Hal Configuration /WATCH /Pins /parport /0 /pin-10-in (for first input). My parport inputs are pins 10 to 13 and pin 15. I had to supply 12v to the BOB for the inputs to work.

Thanks mate, Much appreciated.

I've already supplied 12v to the BOB. Not sure it's working though as I get about 300mv from the proximity sensors when they are not tripped.

I'll check tomorrow afternoon. Of to bed now.

How have you wired the proximity sensors? Are they 2-wire or 3-wire? NPN or PNP?

OK, so the proximity switch acts like a switch-to-ground between the black wire (output) and the blue (and) wire, and probably needs at least 6V on the brown wire.

Is that how it is wired? Id your BoB expecting +ve voltage inputs rather than switch-to-gnd?

Yep. 12v to Brown and Blue, Black wire to the BOB.

I have 2 motors on my Y axis and running Linux 2.8. Wires to ports 12 and 13. Just setting up homing in Y at the moment.

BOB expects switch to ground via the black wire.

When I put a meter across black wire and positive though, I get about 300mv. Once the switch is tripped, I get the full 12v. I'm a bit worried I have enough earth leakage that it's being detected as tripped when it is not.

I wouldn't expect the inputs to trip at 0.3V
But you could put the multimeter on the output of the optometrist-coupler (if there is one) to be sure.

This answer was perfect.

I can easily see that tripping the sensor isn't seen by the parallel port.

I can run a jumper wire directly from ground to the input on the BOB and see it change in Axis (from above reply). I can put my multi-meter from ve+ to the switched wire on the sensor and get 12v.

Not sure what's going on yet.

Good to know you got the input on the BOB working. Is the negative on the sensor (blue) connected to the ground of the BOB?.
