Could someone generate a working Hal/Ini file for linuxcnc 2.8 runing on linux debian10. Ive had no luck with pcconf at all.
I have all the relevent items wired up by a profecional cnc retrofit guy.
There is nothing else connected to the system.ie no limit switches no spindle nothing at all. just 2 servo drives with motors.
The motors are mounted on the Boxford lathe X and Z axis.

The servor drive is a Pronet-04AMG

Servo Motors are EMJ-04
• Rated Torque of 180 oz-in • Medium Inertia to Maximize Torque • Peak Torque up to 300% of Rated Torque • Peak Current up to 300% of Rated Current • No Load Speed of up to 4,500 RPM • 2,500 CPR Incremental Encoder Attached • Enclosed and Self-Cooled • Power Rating up to 400 Watts • Optional Brake Available • Long Life and Highly Reliable • Neodymium-Iron-Boron Magnets (NdFeB) • Class F Insulation • CE Certified

Ballscrew Pitch is 2.5mm
Toothed pully on motor 32TPI
Toothed pully on ballscrew 20 TPI
Mesa Board 7i97

Thanks in advance

getting various erros in hal file when launching linuxcnc, the user interface will not show up, if I coment out the error lines all controls are greyed out.
Cant jog any axis, even when going through pcconf cant jog axis in closed loop test, appears the enable is not coming on the servos.

Very new to this please be patient with me.

I would not expect to be able to jog without getting the preliminaries set up properly:
(pncconf will not be useful here since it does not know how to setup a 7I97)

1. Get the encoders reading properly (scaled correctly and reading in the right directions)
2. Get the drive enables working
3. Set reasonable F-Error limits for tuning
4. Verify analog output polarity (expect runaways since there a 50% chance of backwards
feedback)
(steps 1 to 3 should be done with the drives disabled)

If you launch the basic 7I97 configuration, do you get errors?

If so, posting them here will help diagnose the problem.

its allwas this configuration you have to start with.

as PCW said, step by step.

first you have to setup the ethernetconnection to the 7i97. If this is ok, the basis configuration should start and the 9i97 should appear in the "Hal Configuration window"

Please, don't test a servo system mounted on a machine. Don't!

Do a bench test first or disconnect them from the ballscrews.

so when I run the basic7i97 ini file I get this error
setp [HMOT](CARD0).pwmgen.00.offset-mode 1 # offset mode so 50% = 0
the error repeats on other lines with similar text ie [HMOT](CARD0).pwmgen.01 to 05
if I comment them out the interface comes up but very slugish slow to respond to any click, also none of the F1, F2 or F3 keys being pressed on keyboard respond with the operator panel, if I press F1 nothing happens and so on.
