AHA! You are using Mint 18.3, I bet the problem is with the Qt version ...

When the error dialog come up click the "Open Issue" button and it should create a new issue pre-populated with a bunch of system info. If for some reason the error diolog does not work then let us know what the output this command is.
python -c "import qtpy; print qtpy.QT_VERSION"

Ok, i am glad to report that nothing works ! :)
I do have to many things installed on this PC ( main one with 4 monitors ), and the Mint version is 18.3 and the preempt-rt kernel was compiled on another PC ( the one with only 2 monitors <<jokes ) and i just installed it as is, linuxcnc has been installed and reinstalled several times as i do a lot of testing on this PC.
So all in all, a lot of places for things to go wrong ( currently any USB stick i insert that ends up being /dev/sdb will be ReadOnly !!! ). One of the 4 monitors or the graphic card ( Radeon RX580 ) has a strange issue when i power off the PC, it will remain on with a blank screen until i remove the DP cable !
Gremlins, lots of them !
:)
I have another quad i5 here but no place to put it, so that will have to wait some more, it does have Mint 19.1 installed but no RT and no Linuxcnc. Soon......

QtPyVCP currently only works with Qt 5.7.1 or later, so that is the problem right there :(
Once we support PySide2 that limitation will be removed and it should be able to run on pretty much any 64bit system with Python 2.7 support.

This is getting more and more fun !
Did try again to send the report, now i got
Looks like something went wrong!

We track these errors automatically, but if the problem persists feel free to contact us. In the meantime, try refreshing.
After some refreshing it dawned on me, I need refreshing ! Down to grab a coke, back in a jiffy !
