Hi all,
I really like the look of the Probe Basic screen and I want to give it a try. I'm still very new to Linux and LinuxCNC.
I installed Probe basic, easy. I can run it in sim mode, great, but when I try to configure a real machine to use it I use the Pncconf wizard, but Probe basic is not on the list of GUI's. How can I create a new machine configuration with Probe Basic, or better upgrade my existing config to use the newly installed Probe Basic user interface? The install documentation stops at that point. The next step is probably obvious to an experienced LinuxCNC user.

Not sure this will work, but normally it goes something like this:
Make a working config for your machine using pncconf
Copy the hal file created by pncconf to the sim folder of probe_basic
Edit the ini file by removing the whatever_sim.hal file and adding the name of the hal you copied
Also edit the scale, limits, speeds and accelerations to suit or just copy them from the file created by pncconf.
save, test.
If anyone has an easier solution, please feel free to post it.

Tommy Light, who makes the pncconfig setup? wonder if they could add probe basic to the gui option, sure would simplify things for newer users wanting probe basic!
