Connecting Physical Pin input to an Physical Pin was created by SRT
I am using a 5I23 through a smart serial to a pair of 7i70's and a 7i71. I have figured out how to connect a halui pin to my output of choice but I am having trouble linking a physical pin to a physical pin in HAL. Do I have to create a new halui pin for every signal to my physical pins?
Example
net Electronics-on hm2_5i23.0.7i70.0.1.input-00 ====> hm2_5i23.0.7i71.0.3.output06 does not give me the ouptut signal I need to fire the relay.

That should work
If it doesnt work you can trace the signals
with show hal configuration or halmeter
start with the input pin, then the signal (Electronics-on)
then the output pin

I think I figured out my problem...I was using the reload command from axis to try my new HAL code. It actually worked when I exited from EMC all together and re-started. Thanks

Reload only reloads the G code file.

Good to know....I have a question fro Peter-My 24V power supply flaked out sending 35Volts to my 7i70's and 7i71 cards-Do you think it hurt them at all?
I will get new ones coming right away if you feel there might be an issue. I just started to make progress I have been working on this on and off since December of last year (mostly off) but I am determined to get this lathe back into service.
I could not load EMC and ran the dmesg and I was amazed to see overvoltage listed on the 7i71 as the cause and sure enough I checked the voltage 35 volts. This stuff is amazing from the Linux CNC software to the Mesa cards I chose to use the tools that are in here for troubleshooting are fantastic. Now if I can just learn to use them.

If the 7I71 driver chips did not let out the magic smoke, you are probably OK
These chips (NCV7608) have a 34V max suggested working voltage
and a absolute maximum of 40V so should survive 35V at least for a while
The 7I70s are good to about 50V so should be fine

No magic smoke! I hope they are okay....I was just starting to have fun and maybe even understand this stuff a little. Thanks for the answer
Again I am amazed that the warnings led me right to the problem..........I don't think there is a commercial control that does what this stuff does.
