i don't have internet connection during the next days. i can only go online with my cell phone. can someone provide me the .deb files to install linuxcnc? 2.7,2.8, or 2.9?
i've saved the deb files for the RT kernel, but i can't install linuxxcnc at the moment because my linux machine isn't able to connect to the internet.

Here is a link to my built .deb of LinuxCNC 2.8Pre ~ USPACE that I use on my mill. I do not guarantee anything so use with caution.

Great tutorial, which saved me a huge amount of time and trouble!

I successfully managed to follow post#2 method and now have a running 2.7.8 version on 32Bit Mint. Apart from a little worse latency than Ubuntu 10.04 it all works fine. Bit of an old clunker of a PC so I'll put up with it.

I do have one question, how do I update to 2.7.9 without pulling that branch and recompiling from source?

I tried added "deb linuxcnc.org precise base 2.7-rtai" to the source list, and I can see that the docs are able to be updated to 2.7.9, but not the program itself.

If I go to Software Manger in Mint I can see LinuxCNC (not installed) and Linuxcnc-uspace (which is installed) so I suspect this is why an update is not being reported.

Maybe another thread on "how to keep it updated" ?

Thanks,

Keith

Hi
That is really great, what you have made here. Without this documentation I would not be able to run my MESA 7I76E card in Linux Mint! Thank you very much!

Keith,

I have not tried to update one of my built debs to a buildbot version.

I just recompile every now and again. I actually use the master branch religiously. It's quite stable. If you get that working I could add it to the topic.

Daniel,

Glad you found this useful. Glad I could help.

All,

I'm still around. Still very busy as I have recently moved and dealing with a remodel.

Take care,

James

Hello
I just got a problem. I made the Post 2 till the end. But I cannot find - as you write at the end of Post 2 "Note: After...." anywhere in Main Menu an listing of CNC. Have you an idea, what I could do - maybe what I made wrong?
Thanks a lot and kind regards
Daniel

Daniel,
You installed the linuxcnc-uspace_2.8.0....deb, right?
Read the blue text note at the end of post 2.

Hi
I have followed step by step post 2 with "Downloading and Configuring LinuxCNC" and I have seen the note at the end of post 2. But nowhere a listing of CNC. Maybe someone else encountered the same problem?

What exactly did you do after issuing "../debian/configure uspace ; debuild -uc -us"?
