7i43 and 7i48

Category: PnCConf Wizard

now If you have played with pncconf and saved a file pncconf adds a preference file its called:
.pncconf-preferences
if you haven't saved a file make a dummy one so this file is written.
after that load pncconf again and your firmware SVST6_6 should be available (chose 7i43-4 of course).

If there is a problem check that file.
Its a hidden file so to see it you must
click on show hidden' under 'view' in the file browser.
in that file there should be a line that looks like this:

<property name="customfirmwarefilename" type="string" value="~/Desktop/custom_firmware/firmware.py"/>

If not add it and try again.

The 7i48 uses muxed encoders, which PNCconf can partially handle.
PNCconf will only see the even numbered encoders, you would have to write HAL code if you want to use the odd numbered encoders.

If that is good enough for you I can make a file for you so you can use the firmware in PNCconf that Peter sent a link for.

When you do a tool change you have to use Tn M6 G43 then select the Z axis then move to your touch off point then touch off the tool table and notice if it says Z. Then you can load a tool with Tn M6 G43 and select Z axis and touch off your stock to G54.

T30 does nothing really without M6 then next you need G43. It is bad form to mix motion and setup on the same line and you should smack bobcrud on the hand for doing that. I'm really sorry you have to muddle through bobcrud and I wish you good luck with that. I'm sorry but the hurt lingers on from when I thought bobcrumb was CAM software.

No problem the best way is to start a new thread with a subject that reflects your question. This makes it easier to find at a later date by newbee's.

I meant pretty much what you are doing, pressing "touch off" then selecting the tool table from the drop-down.

Places where it could go wrong are
1) Not doing a g43 to select the tool offset
2) Starting off with a large offset in the tool table for the first tool, and transferring it as an offset to the others.

Try this sequence:

M6 T1 G43

Then, touch of the tool selecting G54, then touch it off again selecting "Tool Table" Do this for X and Z. Does this bring the preview back into the box?
If it does, you can now touch-off the other tools using "Tool Table" and you should be sorted out with T1 as the zero-length reference tool. (Which is fine, even if it isn't really zero-length)
Also, if you ever look at the tool table and see an offset in T1, you know something has gone wrong.

EMC stops executing code (code format issue?)

Category: G&M Codes

I am using BobCAD-CAM with EMCRev1 post processor. I would appreciate if someone could take a look at the code and see if it is something EMC does not like.

It runs all straight and feed lines fine. I have a threading component BCC is outputting (not using G76 for some reason??) but the program stops at this line and does not want to proceed past the tool change, it just idles, does not continue to execute;

G00 Z5.
G00 X4. (note- homed position)
M5
M1
()
T30
G01 X.962 Z0. S500 M3 G94 F.063
G01 X.862
G00 X4. Z-.375
G00 Z5.
M5
M2
%

I understand the M1 pause, and it does, but when try to restart it does nothing. I think the problem might be on the bold G01 code, which is the start of the threading cycle. It has already issued a G94 at very beginning of program, maybe does not like that again? Everything else seems OK.

I also don't see any popup for the tool change on my screen. I get the Axis note on startup, but nothing during execution.

I was basically following the manual step-for-step for the tool changer. Select tool, jog to offset tool at the chuck, touch off 'Z=0', pick tool table, and OK, next tool, etc, same for all tools. Same for X, except input tool tip distance form C/L. (Ran a G94.1 to verify clear offsets).

Then I jogged to the end of part, and touch off X and Z=0 to G54, P1. That set everything on DRO to zero. (part zero is on C/L)

I am not sure what you mean by 'into the tool table'?
