I have been thinking about setting up a control for my lathe. Rod's posts have put me on to the gigabyte Brix's as a great space saving solution for the PC. He also recommends the Lilliput touch screens in this thread.

I went looking on the Lilliput website, and their desciption of moniotor resolution is not very clear.

Compatible with full 1080 HDMI signals
The OF1046/C/T is designed to accept full HDMI signal, allowing you to create custom multimedia stations in smaller form factors than ever before

vrs
Native Resolution 800×600 (native)

Since Gmoccpy needs at least 1024x768, will it display correctly on one of these lilliput monitors, or does the monitor just oversample signals but display them at 800x600?

It may chip off the buttons on the bottom. I went from a 19" insignia TV to a planar 22" monitor and it is fine on the 22 but chopped on the 19

I do have a 7" monitor that does that, namely the upscaling and it is a disaster to watch. It can do 1024x768 but the native resolution is 640x480. It is collecting dust in the workshop.

I don't think the Lilliputs would work as they upscale from 800x600. I've got a 7" Xenarc with that resolution but never run it in 1024 x 768 as it was pretty awful.. It seems that Xenarc now have a 1024x600 in 7". *" and 10.1" which might be worth a look.

Thanks for confirming that Rod.

I wonder if the Sunfounder 10.1" screens play well with LinuxCNC?

They claim linux support, and have a separate usb connection for the touch function, but I did some searching and couldn't find any clear evidence of them either working or not working completely under linuxCNC.

Considering it is claimed to work with Raspian on the Pi...... I would imagine it should work on other Debian based distros.

Also along with Ubuntu.

The touchscreen s really just a USB mouse as far as the system is concerned. When I added one to my machine, it just came up in Mint with no config changes at all. Maybe look for a 15" monitor designed for POS systems

I used a 17" monitor on my mill, and it seems unnecessarily large for gmoccapy. For my lathe I have much less space than for my mill, and think I'll try the 10". Also a glass covered capactive screen should be easier to keep clean then the plastic cover resistive screen I have on the mill.
