extra axis on 7i96 with bob was created by PaulQUE
hello, I have a working config on my cnc machine using a 7i96 (no s) thats using 4 stepgens and pmw output for the spindle and it's been working greaat for a few years now.
I need the four stepgens to square up the gantry (XYYZ kinematics) and I am looking at options to add a 5th stepgen to drive a rotary axis using a chinese Bob connected to the P1 expension port.
Am i correct it seems the simplest is to move the spindle pwm control to the BOB to use the 5 stepgens directly on the card?
what firmware would i need to flash on the card, and is there a exemple config that displays how to drive the spindle pwm output from the BOB?
thanks for the help

If this is the standard SainSmart V2 5 Axis BOB, then
7i96_5abob_d.bit firmware would be the appropriate.
The existing hal file should be close (the PWM output just moves
to the BOB) There may be polarity/frequency changes needed
with the PWM output.
You would need to add the 5th axis stuff to the hal/ini files

thanks for the answer, I tried flashing the firmware with mesa flash and all I get is "no 7I96 board found"
adress is 10.10.10.10,
running --device ethernet-- returns "ETH device 7I96 at ip=10.10.10.10"
any idea what that could come from?

What command line did you use?
Something like:
mesaflash --device 7i96 --addr 10.10.10.10 --write 7i96_5abob_d.bit --reload
should work

Strange, does:
mesaflash --device ethernet --addr 10.10.10.10 --write 7i96_5abob_d.bit --reload
work?
mesaflash --device ethernet --addr 10.10.10.10 --write 7i96_5abob_d.bit --reload
work?

"no ethernet board found",
I must admit I am not super linux savy, could i be doing something wrong related to either the boards' jumper or some other config related issue?
