Hello,
I'm a newbie in Speed-Control Servo Drives. My last projects all Step/Dir projects with different controller and software.
Now i want to retrofit an old Eberle CNC Mill - driver are Yaskawa CACR-SR 03 AC 1ER.
In my opinion these are analog-input drives means Speed-Control with +-10V.
Datasheet uploaded here:
www.nighteagle.de/Yaskawa_CACR_SR.pdf
On page 17 is the connection diagram.
I tink i need an fitting cnc controller like the Mesa 7i92 and a Breakoutboard like the 7i77 to have the analog outputs.
So my question is - can i use this hardware for the Yaskawa Servopack and use linuxcnc on it and how i connect the yaskawa Speed-Control Pins to the 7i77. Which pins i need to connect?
So on page 18 of the Datasheet they have a table with input-pins.
Some of them are limit-switches actually connected on the axes of the eberle cnc mill and i think i don't have to cut these...
Which pins the input for Speed-Control?
Have someone use this servopack before?
A little help will be fine.... it looks a little bit confuse to me.
Regards,
Philipp

Hello Philipp,
I haven't connected the drives to my 7i77 yet, but according to the schematics on my machine (with CACR SR20BE and other CACRs), +-10V is connected to pin 14 and GND to pin 15 on the left (smaller) connector at the bottom front of the drives.
Since you're doing a retrofit, can't you find the current source for 0-10V? Sure has to come from somewhere right now too
Not sure if it's ok (copyright-wise) to post an excerpt of the schematics?
From what I've gathered (again - not hooked up yet) 0-10V should be hooked to the DRV connectors on the 7i77. My machine uses the encoder outputs of the CACR, so I'll send these to the encoder connectors on the 7i77. There's also an enable input to get the drives started and limit switches are connected to the CACR too.
I should post the schematics really

Hello ehb,
so yes i am new with this Speed-Controller +-10V inputs.
On my machine the encoders conected to the CACR and the Limit-Switches also connected to the CACR.
So i think i have to conenct CN1 of the CACR to the 7i77 - but which Pins that is a problem for me - ans alos need i a 7i77 Source or Sinking? Because the Source-Version is out of Stock!?

I just noticed CN1 is the bottom right connector and CN2 the left one.
So yes, 7i77 will end up on CN1.
This is how it's originally connected on my machine.
If you need sourcing or sinking outputs depends on the remaining parts of your machine.
So yes, 7i77 will end up on CN1.

This is how it's originally connected on my machine.
- Pin 7: 24 V
- 8: Enable signal, needs to be connected to ground to enable (on my machine another relay is switched, called "K125")
- 26 & 41, beyond limit switch (drives will show "Pot" on the display if I remember correctly, for positive over travel.
- 43: Drive reset (? not sure when this is used)
- 28: 24 V
- 27: Output from drive to say "Axis OK, drive ready"
- 9 & 10: No idea really
- 11: 0V
- 15: GND for +-10V input
- 14: +-10 V
- 18: Wire shield
- 19, 20, 33, 34, 35, 36 are encoder outputs from drive to Mesa

Hello ehb,
so thanks first for the shematic - i will study now.
For the source or sinking question - it is like npn or pnp and i think the yaskawas are normaly source or not? Do you have the same Yaskawa Servopack? And you have 7i77 source? There are no other parts on my machine now. Okay the limit-switches are correctly connected to the yaskawa drives and three proximity sensors not connected now - these connect to the 7i77...
For me is only important to now what version i have to buy to work with the yaskawa Servopack - i think source? Because this version is out of stock.
For the shematic - Pin 28 on CN1 is Servo Ready Output!?

Hello again,
so have figured out that the mesa 7i97 is the same as 7i92 + 7i77 - only on one card.
And this 7i97 thing is now in stock - so i will buy this one for retrofit my machine.
For others looking for an 7i77 and out of stock problem this will be an alternative.
It is running only under 2.8 and above.

Now have ordered a 7i97 and when it arrived then i write a connection plan for the Yaskaway - hope i can use some infos from ehb - and share for discussion.

Hello,
Mesa has so many cards, it's sometimes hard to really know them all. A comparison chart or something would be really nice..
Thanks for the overview of the 1CN connector, I didn't have that!
Looks like on my machine, "S-RDY" is connected to pin 27, which supposedly gives out GND when the drive is ready (sinking output). Pin 28 should output + then (sourcing output).
So in return this means when using pin 27, the input should be sourcing type and when using pin 28, the input should be sinking.
Please correct me if my thinking is wrong.
Since I already have the 7i77 standard sinking input type, it means I'd have to move S-RDY of the drive from pin 27 to pin 28?
We'll figure it out, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I was under the impression my machine used sinking inputs to begin with.

Hello ehb,
i have wrote a link to the pdf with this datasheet with this CN1 Connection in the upper posts - here for you again:
www.nighteagle.de/Yaskawa_CACR_SR.pdf
Hope it will help...
Do you have the identical yaskawas or another Type? Because the CN1 Connection is onaly for this Yaskawa - i have another datasheet for the P-Version and it is total different... So be aware of using wrong datasheet!

You're right, they're not exactly the same! Sorry, I didn't want to cause any confusion. Thanks for pointing that out!
My machine uses: CACR-SR20BE 12G (X), CACR-SR15BE 12G (Y), CACR-SR05BE 12G (Z), CACR-SR02BE 12G (C).
So the manual you have is for the CACR-SR**AC and SR**AE type, and the pinout has some differences. However, S-RDY- and S-RDY+ remain on the same pins (27 & 28). I found a manual for my type ( Link ).
Are we on the same page about sinking & sourcing of S-RDY signal by now?
