Hello,
I'm also setting up my 7i76 board and hope it's OK to post a question here, because we're on the same topic. When choosing a 24v power supply for the I/O is there any particular spec or design I should look for? Like for example, should I look for a regulated power supply, what should be minimum current rating, how much voltage ripple is acceptable? My apology if this has been asked before but I don't think the manual talks about it...

I exlusively use laptop adapters for a lot of things, and original phone chargers for 5V. All newer laptop adapters are 20V 3A, 4.5A, 6A and some Dell even 12A. Fully regulated with all the protections included and work from 110V to 270V mains. I get used ones for 15 euro a piece from computer services.

USB ones, but original Samsung ones, not ebay or whatever cheap crappy ones, those can do a lot of damage.

TECH:
7I76E HAS DIFFERENT VOLTAGE THAN 7I76 @ TB3
7I76E TB3 @ PIN 21,22 = UNREG LOGIC PWR+ IN
7I76D TB3 @ PIN 21,22 = +5V
  1. 5V ONLY
    1. NOT EQUAL TO
      1. 24V UNREG LOGIC PWR+ IN

7i92 MUST have 5V only, it can also provide 5V to the 7i76, so on the 7i76 the 5V connector can be left unused. For this there is a jumper that has to be set on the 7i92.
7i76E is not a 7i76 or 7i76D when powering is concerned (they are the same for everything else). 7i76E has the option of power from two 12V or 24V terminals leaving the 5V unused, but it looses isolation i think, so double check this.
