I have been spending quite some time trying to get my computer to function properly. I built it myself and bought a add on parport (MCS9900) to use. Now my problem is that I went through my bios and it shows that the card is enabled but when I happened to test my config nothing was moving. I then tested the port for signal and was getting nothing. I tried changing the port to 0x378 0x379 and 0x37a. I then went into terminal and typed it: "lspci -vv" and it came out with this:

05:00.0 Parallel controller: MosChip Semiconductor Technology Ltd. Device 9900 (prog-if 03 [IEEE1284])
Subsystem: Device a000:2000
Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx-
Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx-
Latency: 0, Cache Line Size: 64 bytes
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 10
Region 0: I/O ports at d010
Region 1: I/O ports at d000
Region 2: Memory at f7c01000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K]
Region 5: Memory at f7c00000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K]
Capabilities: <access denied>

Now how can I change the access and get it so the board is actually outputting a signal with my linuxcnc?? Any help would be fantastic!

It looks like you need to use one of 0xd010 or 0xd000 as the base address of the port.

Try that first.
<access denied> isn't a particular problem.

I wish I noticed that and can't believe it was something that simple. That sure did the trick. Thanks a lot!!

You aren't the first, you won't be the last.
Perhaps next time you will be the one spotting the problem and giving the answer.
