Hello guys,

something bad happened. I was testing the drawbar of my machine and accidentally dropped a tool holder (sk40) onto my mesa 7i77 board. The board was sitting on a wooden board on the table of the machine as a test bench. I actually didn't noticed it until today when I wanted to hook up a vfd and noticed that all of the analog out pins have 14V on them. After closer inspection I noticed that the L4 component (maybe a resistor? Can't really tell because of the damage) took a good hit. The A7W diode and the one pin of the IC also took some damage.
Could this explain the 14V? And more important: Can it be fixed? If it really is just a resistor can some so nice and measure what value it has?

Really appreciate your help!

Edit:

Just measured the diode A7W, it is still good.

I think 14v is correct. I remember measuring the same on one of mine, with ref to power supply ground.

I may have this wrong, but the aout is a differential output. The ref for this is not power ground, it is the gnd pin next to the aout pins. This should also measure 14v ref to power supply ground.

When at +10v, aout will be 24v, and at -10v, it should be at 4v ref to power ground, but aout to gnd next to it will be +-10

Anyone feel free to correct me..,

From the print L4 it is an inductance...
Maybe the same value as L3 above.

I just checked the voltage: Between Analogout (any of the six) and power supply ground I get around 0V and between Analogout and GND right next to it always 14.77V on all six.

So it is basically a small coil? I measured the resistance across L3 and it is around 0.3Ohm. L4 on the other hand is an open circuit.

Edit:

Success. I searched through my pile of old pcb's and found a smd inductor with the same ohm reading. Soldering was a bit tricky but it worked. The Analogout pins are now 0V again. I tested the spindle-out and it is now 0-10V! I also noticed that there are now 2 yellow leds, if I remember correctly there was only 1 on before.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
