Vesa drivers in Debian 10

Hello,

I've just done a fresh install of the latest version of linuxcnc with debian 10 (Debian 10 Buster PREEMPT-RT ISO) and I'm having some problems switching to the vesa drivers. The integrated intel gpu that I have causes some jitter with the intel drivers, with vesa I got good results in debian 9.

I'm following the same instructions as I did last time (with debian 9):
wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Troubl...g#Using_Vesa_Drivers
But i get the following error when trying to start lightdm in my xorg log:

[ 1073.089] (II) Module vesa: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
[ 1073.089] compiled for 1.20.1, module version = 2.4.0
[ 1073.089] Module class: X.Org Video Driver
[ 1073.089] ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 24.0
[ 1073.089] (II) VESA: driver for VESA chipsets: vesa
[ 1073.089] vesa: Ignoring device with a bound kernel driver
[ 1073.089] (EE) Screen 0 deleted because of no matching config section.
[ 1073.090] (II) UnloadModule: "vesa"
[ 1073.090] (EE) Device(s) detected, but none match those in the config file.
[ 1073.090] (EE)
Fatal server error:
[ 1073.090] (EE) no screens found(EE)
[ 1073.090] (EE)

What does it mean that the driver is bound the kernel?
What has changed from 9 to 10 that I get this error?
Switching the driver to intel with the same conf starts the server ok

I'm attaching the full log and xorg.conf files

Thank you in advance

Hi,
i had the same problem following the guide you mentioned.
For me the display manager changed.
On my debian 10 LinuxCNC 2.8 PreemptRT it was lightdm

Replacing
sudo service gdm stop
with
sudo service lightdm stop
worked for me
