Stepper driver power enable & microstep drop back?

My 'generic stepper driver' manual WARNS that using enable pins [ENBL+ (+5v)] & [ENBL- (ENB)] cause the motor to drop back to the nearest FULL STEP (microstep mode).

Is this drop back a one time event for every enable/disable cycle or might it occur (numerously?) during enabled periods?

When using microstepping the motor will be often in between magnetic fields, so disabling the drive will normally cause the motor to move to nearest magnetic field.
The maximum error in position will theoretically and practically be 0.9 degree on a 1.8 degree stepper motor.
Usually not an issue due to very often used reductions.
Usually on disable/enable and even then motor must be moved to error again, so it is not cumulative.
