Hi guys,

I'm total noob and would really appreciate if someone could help me with basic configuration so I can start using LinuxCNC.

I have following setup:
  • Mesa 7I96s
  • HBS86H hybrid servo drive
  • Motor 86HB250-156B
  • LinuxCNC 2.9Wiring as in the photo

    Wiring as in the photo

    This is my default conf for X axis which is connected to "Step 0" pins on mesa board.

    When I click "Test/Tune Axis" button I get strange noise from the motor but without shaft moving. Video with the sound www.dropbox.com/s/zqsdf3h1kgi9frx/2023-0...%2022.32.43.mp4?dl=0

    What am I missing?

    Thank you.

Are you saying the LinuxCNC configuration works with a DMA860 but not with a
HBS86H?

Is the HBS86S motor/drive known to work (not sure if there is any tuning/setup required here)

You might try single ended wiring to see if that makes a difference:

5VP --> PUL+,DIR+
STEP-  --> PUL-
DIR- --> DIR-
