As a general rule start with 5000 for both STEP values and 20000 for DIR values.
After you get this working properly and only if you need more speed, set the STEP values to 4000 or 3000 and test again for a day or two, see if you get missed steps or wrong sized parts.
DIR value can be left at 20000 as it does not change much having it shorter.

Ouch, twice!I contacted Stepperonline and they referred me back to the electrical specification in their manual.
