Forgot login and password for my box. What to do?

Forgot login and password for my box. What to do? was created by fmfchop

I shut it down and upon restart realized I don't know my username and password. Lol

How do I attack this problem? :blush:

That is a Linux box right?
Not easy at all. If you need to get stuff from it, <<< deleted for security reasons !!!!
Depending on the distro, there are tutorials on how to reset the password, but if security is enforced, it will delete or not give acces to previous files, and make the previous original user unable to log in or use it's documents. In any case, not something to mess with.
I would just start over.

There's nothing to get off of it. It's a fresh install and I have been working on the hardware side of things on my mill. Went the test the new wiring configuration and see if things would finally work and went to power up and got nothing. Can't remember my info.

Oh well, been there done that.
Just do a fresh install, it takes under half hour, reseting the password takes way more than that.
