Just bumped into this, a nice looking probe for 77$ on amazon, might be useful to someone:

Also a video testing it

Yeh, a few of us have them and they work OK. Also on aliexpress.
The only problem I have had is operator error forgetting to plug them in!
At least the probes are replaceblae twice!

Its not USBC, it just uses the connector and wires in much like a prox sensor

I think its negative switching BUt I was using that anyway.

I picked up one of these about a month ago. Very happy with it so far. Love that the contacts are all gold plated.

A lot more reliable than my home made probe had been!

i have one of these but have not used it yet.
from all my reading and watching on youtube, there seem to be 2 main quirks.

1: its is very fussy to centre. but once it is, it seems accurate to better than 0.001".
2: it uses an M2.5 probe tip thread, which means it will NOT fit common carbide and ruby CMM tips. This is an issue because the stock tip they give you is soft and flexy and bends easily. Some people have adapted them to renishaw tips it seems. Seems easy enough and is what i'm planning.

(edit: corrected to m2.5 threads)

Ah, sorry yeah, mixed them up. The renishaw is m2. They are not compatible.

But that's really cool you found m2.5 ones. I looked before and could not find. Thanks!
