Whether one's interest lies in painting, sculpting, or more technological forms of art, the Lone Star state probably has a school that can launch an art education. From Houston to Austin, Texas has an abundance of schools where students can hone their natural talents and move onto exciting careers in one of many fields. Picking the right art school is important, and the decision should be based on the reputation of the school and the programs offered.

The Art Institute of Houston

The Art Institute is a nationwide system of schools, with one of their flagship campuses in Houston, TX. The school offers programs in media arts, fashion and design, and even a culinary arts program. Within each program there are several degree courses the student can choose from. For instance, within the culinary school, one can choose to obtain an Associate's degree in Baking and Pastry, an Associate's in Culinary Arts, a Bachelor's in Culinary Management and several more.

Texas Tech University

The Texas Tech University School of Art is located in Lubbock, TX, and invites students from all over the state to participate in a diverse curriculum designed to stimulate and challenge creative potential. The school offers degree programs in Art History, Visual Studies, Studio Arts and Communication Design. Additionally, the school offers graduate programs, including a Master of Fine Arts degree. The School of Art also has several student organizations such as the Photography Club and the Art History Society.

The University of Texas

The University of Texas at Austin features the College of Fine Arts, whose departments include the Department of Art and Art History, the Butler School of Music, and the Department of Theater and Dance.
