Studying at the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts

Founded in 1964, Brock University is a public college located in the town of St. Catharine's, Ontario. The campus is located amongst a UNESCO Bioreserve, providing a picturesque landscape for Brock's 17,000 students. Brock consists of 7 Faculties, including the Faculty of Humanities, which is home to the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts. The school opened in 2002 and bestows both Bachelor's of Arts and Bachelor's of Music Degrees.

Programs in the Brock University Department of Theatre Arts

The Dramatic Literature program centers around the study of world theater, approached from an analytical perspective that studies the relevance of drama not only to the time and place that produced it but to the modern world. Students move on to specialize in specific areas of literary theater history.
The Theatre Arts program exposes students to all aspects of drama, including acting, direction, production, stagecraft, playwriting, and mime. The school sponsors two shows per year at its Sean O'Sullivan Theater, as well as a festival of one-act plays and two shows produced entirely by fourth year students.
The Drama and Education in Society is a program designed for educators in all fields of education as well as dramatic therapists. Students can combine the program with the other two areas of concentration in order to earn a Bachelor's Degree or simply obtain a certificate in the field. The Brock University Department of Music

Applied Music is an option for students wishing to pursue a career in voice or instrumental music.
Theory, composition, and musicology are additional fields of study offered by the Brock's music department.
The Department of Music is home to a music lab with cutting edge synthesizers, composing software, and a virtual acoustic system for student use.
Brock University music students must participate in one of the school's choral, wind, or percussion ensembles.

The Brock University Department of Visual Arts

Visual Arts majors at Brock University study a variety of art techniques, including painting, drawing, installations, video, photography, graphic design, and digital media.
The Visual Arts department offers a joint program with the Department of Education for students who wish to teach art as well as a program that combines Computer Science and the visual arts.
The Department of Visual Arts offers a Graphic Arts and Media laboratory, darkroom, and a video editing suite for student use.

Brock University Centre for Arts and Society

The Centre for Arts and Society provides a multi-disciplinary education that includes drama, visual arts, and music as well as communications, dance, and film. The Centre offers both Bachelors of Arts and Honours Bachelor degrees.
The program focuses on philosophical theory surrounding the development and role of the arts in society.
The Centre also offers a minor for Brock students majoring in other areas, but interested in developing skills in the fine or performing arts.

The Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts has relationships with Rodman Hall Arts Centre, the Niagara Symphony Orchestra, and Theatre Beyond Words.
