Nice design John. Reusing the existing housing is going to save you a bunch of time.
I screwed up the design of my lower button mount plate. With the switches mounted vertically, there is not enough space above for the monitor, and below for the housing flange, so I will have to remake that plate and rotate the switches.

if those are modular switches you might be able to just move the contact blocks further back. (I don't know if I have seen spacer blocks)

Hi to all, Mark the ladder takes the spindle-vel-cmd-rpm value from hal and sets the closest combination of gears to match that value. During the gear change ladder sets the spindle-at-speed to 0 so no axis move can take place.
The configuration is not compete but it will change the gears wen an S command is placed and during the change it will hold the axis from moving. Ladder must also control net spindle-enable, net spindle-cw, net spindle-ccw and spindle-vel-cmd-rpm must be changed to spindle-vel-cmd-rpm-abs (always positive value).

Hi John,
Sorry for the slow response. Been rather busy with other stuff lately. Cool that you got the ladder control of the spindle speed working. I would love to see a video of that.
Hi Andy,
I'd need at least inch long standoffs for the switches, and then I couldnt mount the front panel with the switches installed and cabled. Trying to wire them up inside the house would be a nightmare. Easier just to remake the steel mount strip with the switches rotated. I finished it yesterday, and threw some primer on it. I'll paint it green this evening.
Probably should have stuck with the huge MAHO control box like John is doing, but space in my basement is at a premium.

We have a little problem with the e-stop double bouton. Gmoccapy activates only after we release the bouton, so the 24 volt from the Mesa to 209 joint to activate the 19K1 is not going to be present when we press the 3SH1 bouton (the second bouton contact).

One solution it will be not to drive directly gmoccapy.v-button.button-0 pin from the mesa bouton input, but instead pass the signal from a timer that pulse for a fix time.

Never mind, I was wrong, the boutons pin of gmoccapy have different behavior than soft boutons on screen. They activate gmoccapy as soon you press then and not after release them.

Hi John,
Interesting observation. I hadn't notice that behavior. For testing I have the Physical start button from the the MAHO connected to close the EStop through one set of poles, and to signal V.button.0 through it's second poles. While pushing and holding that, I have been clicking the on screen V.button 1, and it has latched fine.
