Do you have a thread or any pictures for it?

My next retrofit is a bostomatic bd18 with 2 spindles and a tool changer.

This project is a baby step into the process. I have no schematics for that machine and no way to get them so it'll be a complete rewire most likely. I did purchase a rf wire tracer that may help the process.

Great job. My next project is pretty similar its a bostomatic bd-18. It has 2 spindles both with vfd. Linear rails, a tool changer and 0 documentation.

If it's ok with you I'll probably seek you out when I start that project cause I have no idea where to start without schematics. I'm kind of thinking it will end up a complete rewire situation. I hope not.

I received my Mesa7i92 and 7i77 on Sunday after ordering it in the afternoon on Thursday. Nice delivery speed.

First impression of the boards are they are very nice quality and great that the boards are fully removable without unscrewing any wires.

So after following tommylight's setup tutorial and reinstalling linux twice because apparently I have a reading comprehension issue *doh* I have linuxcnc installed and running under the RT kernel.
forum.linuxcnc.org/9-installing-linuxcnc...-nearly-easy-install

So my 3 issues while installing it was first the wrong distro "Mate of XFCE" i read to be the XFCE installation. Next it couldn't find "sudo apt-get -y install linuxcnc-uspace" due to a key issue I hadn't read fully in the update. The last key was the one that fixed this problem. Next was "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:danielrichter2007/grub-customizer" returned a error. finally I continued without resolving it just doing "sudo apt-get install grub-customizer" and it successfully installed the program.

Now I'm testing the Latency and it seems kind of high but maybe I've done something wrong. I know with my setup the latency shouldn't be an issue but I would like to address it just so I know if its the machine or me.

My computer is a Dell Optiplex 780 with an E8400, 4gb RAM, 250GB SSD, Radeon HD3450.

My numbers are running:
Servo Thread Max Interval 1074482 Max Jitter 74482
Base Thread Max Interval 132890 Max Jitter 107890

If these numbers are to be expected with my hardware I would appreciate anyone letting me know before I spend hours chasing ghosts.

Thank you in advance again for all the assistance.

Did you follow the link for GrubCustomizer setup?
What does

Yes I used GrubCustomizer to makethe RT kernel the first in the list. I actually moved the original below so you have to hold shift to boot into it.

This is what uname -a returns:
Linux bridgeport-v2xt 4.9.0-13-rt-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Debian 4.9.228-1 (2020-07-05) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

No, the servo amps are analog velocity servos.  We do have the PPMC system with analog output to drive these amps.

Re jitter - they are a bit high.  Probably workable but could be better.  I like to be in the circa 50us mark or lower if possible on max jitter.

So on a core 2 duo it comes back to the standard stuff:
In bios: turn of hyperthreading, turn off virtualisation support, turn off all sleep and power saving states (S and C). Basically anything that smells like power saving

Kernel boot params:  you will probably need to set some or all of:
Code:
isolcpu=1 intel_idle.max_cstate=0 processor.max_cstate=0 noirqbalance idle=poll
