1 different drive model for 1 of the axis possible ?

Hello there !
The only necessary informations to enter for the drives are the 4 timing settings inputs if I am correct.
Let's say I have the same drive for the X and Y and I would use a different drive (cheaper) for the Z. They would be the same make (leadshine) with the same timing inputs as the 3 drives would be digital drives . The difference being the model. Would this configuration work or is it not recommended for a good reason. May be I miss a crucial information here ?

As long as the timing requirements are correct, Linuxcnc doesn't care.

LinuxCNC would be perfectly happy with one axis as a stepper, one as a servo with an encoder, another with a servo and resolver and another as a servo-hydraulic cylinder.

My own mill has servo/resolver on XYZ with an 8i20 drive and then a 4th axis with a servo/encoder and STMBL drive.

thank you that's all clear ! I am just starting with 2 EM503 for the X and Y, and a cheaper drive like a DM860 for the Z (small stress on this axis for my machine). I hope I won't have to upgrade for servos...
