Diferent motors on same axis

Hi guys!

I am new to LinuxCnc and in need for some help.

I know it is possible to connect two motors (same model/ same size and same gear ratio etc) on same axis.

I want to know if it is possible to connect two diferent motors, with diferent gear ratio and sizes, on the same axis. and how do I do that.

For example, I have a cnc type XZ and three diferent motors ( diferent gear ration and sizes).

Do I set the step conf to XYZ and attach Y axis to Zaxis??

Thank you in advance.

Yes, it is possible. It isn't even difficult.
Just configure as normal, but set up the motors differently.

But please explain it to me further.

I think that Stepconf allows you to configure more than one motor per axis.
But I haven't used it for years. (I tend to largely configure by hand as most of what I do is unconventional)

It might help to understand that LinuxCNC reserves the word "axis" for the spatial coordinates, and uses "Joint" to refer to a motor / slide actuator.

So configure the joints according to the motor parameters and then allocate the joints to the axes.
