Need a virtual machine in kernel 4.19.1 rt3

Hello,

Due to the selected hardware (Ryzen 3 2200G) we needed to use one of the latest kernels. We selected this hardware as we need a virtual machine running windows with a cam with decent performance.

In this case we were able to use in the latest ubuntu the 4.19.1 rt3. Until now so good. After 12 hours of latency test the results were ok.

The problem: We were not able to install Virtual Box on this system because no module exists for this kernel. Any information if it is possible to run it would be highly appreciated.

By the way: In user space what is the important latency? Base or servo thread?

Thank you

Base thread latency is not important unless you are using a parallel port or other simple I/O hardware. Having a base thread can make the servo thread latency worse, so for systems that don't need a base thread its better to test with just the servo thread:

latency-test 1ms 1ms

or

latency-histogram --nobase --sbinsize 100
