Jogging a 2nd Spindle

The Axis GUI works well to jog all the defined axes, but it seems like it is only capable of jogging a single spindle ($0) using the F3 Manual Control screen.

Has anyone figured out how to enable it to jog all the spindles defined in the HAL or INI?

I don't think the Axis user interface has any provisions for multiple spindles. For on screen control of spindles other than the primary one you will either have to settle for using MDI commands or build a VCP to control the other spindles (such as PyVCP, GadeVCP, or QtVCP.)

I'd report that as a bug, somebody might change it to act on the current spindle as they have been out for a while...

Right now I don't think there is any form of "active" spindle. There is the primary spindle which responds to commands with no spindle designation or $0 commands. And all spindle commands intended for spindles other than the primary one must be appended with with $n, where n=the spindle's designation number.

Before the addition of multiple spindle support, one of the main work arounds was to create custom M-codes to designate "active" spindles that would then receive the standard spindle commands. But that isn't how the current multi-spindle support works. In some ways I think that is almost a better way to make it work. And It still can be done this way, but it does make for a much more complicated hal configuration.

I thought the spindle selected was remembered until another spindle was chosen so you don't need to set the spindle with every M3 command

It didn't on the last machine I set up about 6 months ago. (But that does not mean that it didn't change since then.) It would be nice if it did do that.

I was wrong. It defaults to spindle $0 which does not really make sense.
