Please Help with Error...

I am trying to use the Gantry Component with the Parallel Port but am having the following error whenever trying to start up LinuxCNC:

HAL: ERROR: function 'gantry.0.read' need FP
addf failed

My .ini and .hal file are attached, I am trying to get this done ASAP so if you can help give guidance I would really appreciate it. I have been trying to piece together a working solution for 3 days now and am getting discouraged...

The gantry component functions need to be added to the servo thread, not the base thread

Thank you, can I add just the gantry component to the servo thread while leaving the parport and stepgen in the base-thread or will that cause some kind of synchronization problem? The reason I ask is because I know the base-thread is the preferred thread since it is faster.

The gantry component will only run in the servo thread
(and there is no advantage to running it in the base thread)

My question was supposed to read if I can move just the Gantry Component to the Servo thread and leave the others in the base thread?

Yes

The gantry comp needs floating point so cannot run in the base thread (where floating point is not supported)

I would use the JA14 branch for a gantry, it is now gantry friendly.
