Hello guys!
In our small company we have small cnc lathe.
Simple constructions made with aluminium sheets and profiles.
3nm steppers, 16x5 ball screws, 20mm square linear rails.
Not big deal but very good machine to do small things, like a nozzle for 3d printer.
How ever, our problem with machine is spindle with servo motor.
Servo is 400w estun + estun pronet-e servo driver.
We connect this servo to LPT mother card.
Step/dir connects working not bad, but we can't set up this servo.
configs
1. servo is third axis
2. servo is only spindle motor
can you help us? Any materials how start?
Best Wishes Kamil vel Krakus

Hi everybody,
I've the same situation with my lathe.
I need to use a servo motor as:
- motor for the spindle, in turning, at for example 1000RPM or more
- as third axis, for example to rotate the spindle only 45 degrees

So Krakus, I see nobody still helped you...
but have you however find some materials how start?

Thanks!
Andrea

this is an example of what I would do:

at 0:40 the machine is turning at high RPM
a 1:52 the machine is used as a divider to drill some holes

Thanks!

Are you sure this is the right way?

If I use two different ini file my workflow would be:
- start LinuxCNC with first setup
- turning
- stop LinuxCNC
- restart LinuxCNC with second setup
- drill the holes
- stop LinuxCNC
and this is exactly what now I do.

but now I need to everything in a unique session, with this workflow
- start LinuxCNC
- turning
- drill the holes
- stop LinuxCNC
because I have a production of many pieces

Or I did not understand your advice?

See this diagram:
wiki.linuxcnc.org/uploads/orient.svg
(Ctrl+ will zoom in most browsers)

and this sample HAL file:
github.com/jepler/linuxcnc-mirror/blob/m...olchange/spindle.hal

This is exactly the same problem as spindle-orient on a milling machine.

yes!

I think this is the right approach to the problem!

I now have in front of a lot of hours of study (it's really complex for me...) but at least now I know a little better where to start!

Many thanks!
Andrea
