lathe turret control On Denford Orac

A customer asked me what I knew about controlling a lathe turret. Well, not too much, but i know it has been done.
He has a Denford Orac, and it apparently uses a DC brush motor to advance the turret, then applies reverse current to the motor to back it onto a stop. It has 3 sensors that give Gray code indication of the turret position.

I'm pretty sure somebody has already done a turret that works this way. Are there any sample configs available for this?

Thanks for any pointers on this!

Jon

[strike]I don't know if this was for DC motor or stepper:[/strike]

It's for a relay-controlled DC motor.

it uses a dc motor , which reverses to a stop using 24v in fwd mode , and a drop to 12v in reverse
if your stuck with this i can help with the full setup

it uses the original grey encoder and has direct feedback to the io control , so shows the actual tool number in axis
see the pages of the wiki for most of the info

it's essentially the same for an emco toolchanger too , although they i think use a stepper , but the mechanics are the same as a orac

Andy,

Thanks so much, I was looking for this but did not find it. Your Google-fu is better than mine!
