Threading on a Boxford TCL lathe
Working away today.
Will check what I can this evening then try to send files as requested
Am still very unfamiliar with linux so if you are giving me a suggestion then would much appreciate some guidance on the path to it.
Many thanks for your support.

It allows you to view the live state of HAL pins and signals.
(If you need to monitor more than one pin, then you can open more halmeters by selecting the menu item again)

Although I have been working in Gmocappy but I will look in axis for this function .
Will also try to zip up and attach all the files for my current config.

I suspect that when looking at Axis I must have enabled index , so now I need to understand what is going on in there so I dont have the same problem again .
Is there a manual for the likes of me ?

I assume that you have found the docs? If you have, then I am afraid that is all that there is.
There are some "getting started" videos by various people on YouTube.

Can you point me to the good vids please ? I find a few on youtube are hard going

linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/
I haven't really watched any, and I suspect that the fixed pace would be a problem compared to reading a web page or hard copy. Can you point me to the good vids please ? I find a few on youtube are hard going

A little light reading , sometimes puts a perspective on the you-tuber who manages to squeeze a half hour lesson into 7 minutes.
I am not trying to become fluent in Linuxcnc. Initially I just want to make this toy lathe work and gain an understanding of the functions of the CNC lathe, ( which i have found much more demanding than converting a 3 axis mill.)
When I reach the point where i can make a few shoulder bolts for vintage motorbikes it will probably be relegated to the back corner of the workshop and dragged out occasionally for this . I can then hopefully move on to a more purposeful project.
I dont think I will attempt to palm it off onto some unsuspecting ebay customer for £2.5K. It has become an old "friend"
But please watch this space . I have not yet got to where I need to be with it .Probably a few silly questions yet to come

I do that sort of thing using a set of macros that I wrote.
You might find the same thing useful.
Here they are making a front sprockets for Ner-a-Cars:
I only very rarely use one-off G-code programs on the lathe.
