In that case I think you can just drive the joint and axis jog pins in
parallel so jog always works regardless of free/telelop mode

For the master branch (2.8~pre):
Code:
To use an MPG in identity kins configurations where there is a one-to-one correspondence of a joint number and an axis letter, it may be convenient to connect the corresponding hal pins. ....

This part now is all working as I want it. Thanks

net pend-x <= ilowpass.mpgX.out
net pend-x => axis.x.jog-counts
net pend-x => joint.0.jog-counts

setp axis.x.jog-enable true
setp joint.0.jog-enable true

For what reason cannot the P1 expansion port inputs be used to connect the MPG encoders?

You could use them but without a daughtercard, they are rather fragile (like a bare parallel port) so if you connect the pins to the wrong thing you will damage the card

Thanks for your reply, could you publish a diagram of how the MPG connection would be, to the 7i96 card?
