Yes, the enable input is active low only so options with a 7I76E to are add a
relay or opto-coupler (the driver enables can be commoned so one single
pole relay or a single opto-coupler will do)
Normally the drive enable is wired in hal to joint.0.amp-enable-out (2.8 and newer)

So I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the thought process of setting up the homing.
I guess it's a two part question one best practice two how to make it work.
I have attached a photo of my xaxis setup. So I'm wondering in this scenario should I leave my origin at the home switch or shift it to the end of my travel. I know in most cases I come accross when home on a mill the table is parked X+ Y+ end of travels. So I'm wondering do I shift my origin there and call that machine zero?
Second in the scenario I have in the photo what would be the recommended setup for my homing with origin offset, pos and neg travel, final home ect.? The total x travel is 15in. And the distance between the X HOME being triggered and X+ LS being triggered is 2.2in.

I don't think it matters, unless you design your g-code files in such a way that it does. Otherwise it is just personal preference. Homing for the Z axis and it's origin is another story.

you can set simple FTYC relais to the inductiv
see here K4 in pdf
i use all REF Home at one relay and you can decide what signal you like
the inductiv are lj12a3 BX
in your mashine there are the smaller ones A56 i gues

As I see it your non-endpoint home-switch has the problem that the controller has no way to know which direction to move in to find the switch.
LinuxCNC can be set up to rapid to mid-travel once it has found the home switch at the end of travel. (My mill does this)
You current setup with a very long target for the home switch would work for linuxCNC, but as things are it looks like there are two zones on opposite sides of the switch where home-switch-state is false.

So what Andy means is remake or reposition your home switch striker plate so the home switch stays triggered all the way until you hit the limits. Then LinuxCNC will then know which way to go to find the triggering edge. Currently if you home with the home switch on the right of the striker plate, it will crash into the limits..

That was what I was thinking. Unfortunately that is how the setup is from the factory on this machine and it's like this on all three axis.
Im not sure how this worked on the original setup as it never ran when I got it. I've been trying to think of some way I can work around this but I haven't come up with anything yet.

From the photo, it looks like it would be real easy to remake or modify the home switch striker plate and use the existing mounting points.
