7i90 firmware for i/o with MPG counter?

7i90 firmware for i/o with MPG counter? was created by cmorley
I have a 7i80 -> 7i44 ->7i90
I believe the 7i90 has justl-io firmware.
I am looking for a firmware with a MPG counter (not an encoder counter if I can help it - i want x1 mode)
I also haven't figured out how to get mesaflash to read the card
mesaflash -serial --device 7i90 does not find it
mesaflash --device 7i80 --sserial only seems to find the 8 ports of the 7i44
Though I am using the 7i90 for i/o on my lathe so it is connected properly.
Thanks Chris M

hm I do have a 7i80 encoder available - can it be set to x1 mode?

The normal encoders dont support 1X mode (I do have a variant that does but there's no driver support, though its possible to set the mode using raw-write)
I could also add MPG support to the 7I90s Sserial remote (I think there's room for 3 MPGs) but that codes so old I would probably have to back port the 7IA0 code since it has a number of sserial protocol fixes
What are you using the other 7I90 I/O for? I could send you a 7IA0 proto that has 48 isolated 4-24V inputs
(8 of which support 4 MPGs) and 24 Outputs (2A 36V SSR type) plus 2 analog inputs
Only disadvantage of the 7IA0 is that its big physically (because of all the Isolated I/O)
and needs a 107 mm plastic DIN rail channel for mounting
The 7IA0 proto is working but the output indicator LEDs have a ghosting problem (light up dimly when off)

The 7i90 is plugged into opto boards.
Thank you for the offer, but I wish not to rewire.

I'll take a look at updating the 7I90 ssremote firmware
I have all the pieces done in the 7IA0 code, just need to merge them

freeby.mesanet.com/7i90_ssremote.bit
Has 3 8 bit MPG counters (with X1 and X4 modes)
otherwise the same as the old 7i90_ssremote
Counters are on P3 low order bits
A0 1
B0 3
A1 5
B1 7
A2 9
B2 11
Its a bit awkward to update the firmware
What I do is leave a EPP (Parallel) config in the primary EEPROM,
power cycle the 7I90 when jumpered for Primary=Parallel mode
then (without a power cycle) move the EEPROM Jumper to secondary
and program the ssremote config with a PC+EPP parallel port+mesaflash
If I didn't have the P=Parallel=Primary, S=Serial=Secondary mnemonic
I would probably accidentally write over the parallel config more often
( if you do you are up the proverbial creek)
